VA Maine Healthcare System CBOC

SME Solutions will provide Initial Outfitting, Transition, and Activation (IOT&A) support for the VA Maine Healthcare System’s new Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Bangor, Maine. The project consists of a newly constructed, mid-level leased facility encompassing approximately 63,200 net usable square feet and is intended to expand VA healthcare capacity and increase the range of services available to Veterans throughout Bangor and northern Maine.

The new Bangor CBOC will provide expanded access to primary care, mental health, and specialty healthcare services, building upon the services currently available in the Bangor area. The larger, modern facility will enable VA Maine Healthcare System to enhance Veteran access to care, improve clinical workflows and service delivery, accommodate additional specialty services, and better support the healthcare needs of Veterans across the region. The First Day of Clinical Services is projected for September 2029.

Lieutenant General Richard J. Seitz CBOC

SME Solutions was awarded this VA Initial Outfitting, Transition, and Activation (IOT&A) services contract to provide Comprehensive Project Management, Comprehensive Interior Design, FF&E, and Space Planning Support; CONOPS and Transitioning Planning; Acquisition Support Services to include package development, Activation, Delivery, Relocation and Installation, Training, and Turnover and Post Occupancy Support to open an approximately 41,676 net usable square foot replacement outpatient clinic in the vicinity of Junction City, Kansas. This right-sized, PACT-designed, more accessible facility will allow for greater optimized VA care delivery, improved Veteran satisfaction, increased team coordination, improved workflows, and improved recruitment and retention for VA staff. The CBOC is targeting a February 2029 opening.

New Robley Rex VA Medical Center

Taking on our largest project to date, this new 104-bed, full-service hospital located in Louisville, Kentucky, will provide world-class healthcare for more than 45,000 Veterans in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. The campus is being designed to keep patient-centered care and whole-health concepts in mind to provide a comfortable, safe, and healing environment for our Veterans. To specifically address the needs of women Veterans, the new hospital will include a Women’s Health Clinic with four Patient Aligned Care Teams. The new medical center is targeted to open in the summer of 2026.

Biloxi VA Medical Center Building 1

This Building 1 renovation project restores the historic landmark hospital building’s exterior envelope and rehabs the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors for patient care services. It touches approximately 74,000 building gross square feet of full building renovation. Renovation efforts on floors 3 and 4 create 26 private medical surgical beds with centralized nursing stations to support a Central Monitoring unit and other supporting services such as Kinesiotherapy, Pharmacy, etc. The existing 20-bed Acute Care Inpatient Unit will be relocating from connecting Building 3-4th floor. Renovation of floor 5 includes administrative space to support Medicine Service operations and touch-down space for Acute Care providers, a large facility conference room, and an expanded Dental Clinic (12 operatories) and Dental Laboratory relocating from Building 1-1st Floor. We will perform full IOT&A services.

Lawrence/Northeast Indianapolis VA Clinic

North Texas VA Health Care System Dallas VA Medical Center

The 30-bed Long Term SCI facility will be operationally and physically integrated with the existing acute SCI center at the Dallas campus. The new two-story warehouse will have office space on the entire second floor. And Building 2 will be renovated for a new linen holding area. The three projects will be completed in the years 2025 through 2027.

VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics

For this effort, we supported the VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics (SORCC), VA Office of Construction and Facilities Management, and the Army Corps of Engineers with activation pre-planning efforts on two new buildings with seismic concerns on the SORCC campus in White City, OR prior to the issuance of the Design Build (DB) RFP.

VA Northern California Health Care System Stockton CBOC

The new 158,000 square-foot Richard A. Pittman VA Clinic opened in April 2024 and is located at 6505 S. Manthey Rd. in French Camp. The $505M outpatient medical center is in the Central Valley providing services for veterans living in San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Calaveras, and Tuolumne counties. It offers primary care and specialty health services, including addiction and substance abuse treatment, mental health care, post-traumatic stress disorder, smoking and tobacco cessation, and physical and occupational therapy. It has the capacity to serve nearly 210K veterans in the region.

Toms River CBOC

The new Toms River clinic replaced the existing, undersized Brick CBOC with expansion to provide some basic specialty care services to include Primary Care, Women's Primary Care, Radiology, Dental, Eye Clinic, Audiology, Pharmacy, Mental Health, and Telehealth. Women’s Health has its own entrance. There’s also an entrance for ambulance pick-up. A road around the outskirts of the property could one day link to the social services buildings nearby. Toms River delivers enhanced healthcare services to Veterans across Ocean County and the surrounding areas, welcoming local veterans and ensuring they receive the highest level of care in this expanded, modern facility. The clinic opened in October 2024.

Bay Pines Building 1 Renovation

This project supports a major renovation of Building 1, a five-story structure constructed in 1933 as the main hospital on the Veterans Administration Bay Pines Medical Campus. The renovation provides additional space for a Primary Care Outpatient facility as well as administrative offices. This project relocates the current non-PACT Primary Care from Building 100 and to a PACT Compliant clinic setting on floors 2-5. We are honored and excited to support the future design and layout of this is a beautiful historical building located in beautiful, coastal Florida.
